Rusty Creek Retrievers started from providing private rescue services to families that couldn't cope with their dogs. These dogs were fostered and trained then successfully rehomed. Through a careful matching process 25 dogs remain successfully placed.
The passion for Golden Retrievers developed through the efforts to keep a litter of four week old puppies from the shelter. Out of that litter "Rusty" became our own and that opened the door to the world of raising and training Golden Retrievers.
Even though our focus is on training dogs, when we have an exceptional opportunity to contribute to the betterment of the Golden Retriever breed we will plan a breeding. This is usually when we are looking for our next competition candidate.
Breeding dogs is an enormous responsibility and can consume time and fiscal resources. All health checks as outlined in the GRCA Code of Ethics and animal husbandry best practices are followed to ensure puppies are healthy, have appropriate temperament and have the best opportunity to be as close to the Golden Retriever Breed Standard as possible. Early Neurological Stimulation, socialization and opportunity for learning as outlined by the latest research is provided to give puppies the best opportunity for success, no matter if they are to great family members or performance dogs. There is no perfect dog but there is such a thing as dogs that do not align with the integrity of the Golden Retriever breed.
